Backend Developer Intern
Joined the HNG Internship program with no backend experience, learning HTTP and backend fundamentals in the first weeks. When our team's first architecture was coming short and we were risking elimination, we agreed the backend needed a rethink. Each backend developer proposed an improved architecture, and after presenting mine, it was chosen as the simplest and most practical approach. I was then chosen to lead the backend, and we went on to become finalists. We shipped an image categorization service that combines ML-generated image labels with a custom tag-matching algorithm.
